Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how LawnCal ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the LawnCal mobile application ("the App").

Information We Collect

LawnCal is designed with privacy in mind. We collect only what is necessary to provide core app functionality:

• Zip Code (User-Provided): You enter your zip code to enable weather-based lawn care recommendations. This is stored locally on your device and is used solely to retrieve weather data.
• Lawn Profile Data: Grass type, lawn size, and care preferences you enter are stored locally on your device using device storage. This data never leaves your device except as described below.
• App Usage Data: Task schedules, inventory items, and notification preferences are stored entirely on your device.

How We Use Your Information

• Your zip code is sent to the Open-Meteo API (a free, open-source weather service) to retrieve local weather forecasts. Open-Meteo does not require account registration and does not track individual users.
• No other data is transmitted from your device to any server we operate.
• We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose.

Data Storage

All personal data (lawn profile, schedules, inventory, preferences) is stored locally on your device using React Native's AsyncStorage. We do not operate servers that store your personal data. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.

Third-Party Services

LawnCal uses the following third-party service:

• Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com): Used to retrieve weather forecasts based on your zip code coordinates. Please review Open-Meteo's Terms of Service for their data practices.

LawnCal does not include advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or any other third-party data collection services.

Notifications

LawnCal may request permission to send local push notifications to remind you of upcoming lawn care tasks and weather alerts. These notifications are generated entirely on your device. No notification data is sent to external servers. You can disable notifications at any time in your device's Settings app.

Location Data

LawnCal does not access your device's GPS or precise location. The only location information used is the zip code you voluntarily enter in your profile settings.

Children's Privacy

LawnCal is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
